Rules and Regualations

Daily Procedures

  • School function time 7:25 am to 1:30 pm.
  • Students must be in school 5 minutes before the Assembly bell.
  • Guided teaching begins at 7:45 am and ends 1:30 pm. Please ensure that you do not drop off and pick up your child within this time so as to avoid distruption to classes.
  • Regular dismissal times are
    • Play Group - 11:30 am
    • LKG - 12.00 noon
    • UKG and Year 1 - 12:30 pm
    • Year 2 - 1 pm
    • Year 3 to IGCSE - 1:30 PM
  • Children arriving after the normal time will be in late comer's area.
  • Please you should pick up your child within 15 minutes after the school time.
  • If your child is going to be late or absent please telephone before 9 am so that necessary arrangements can be made
  • Student absent without notifying will be considered traunt and the proper authorities will be notified.

Attendance and Absence Procedure

  • Stuednet are required to attend school faithfully
  • Students should never leave the school permises for any reason unless accompanied parent or guardian, after being properly signed ot at the school office.
  • Whenever a student is absent from school for any reason, the following procedure should be followed:
    • Firstly, parents should telephone the school office the first morning o the student's sickness to notify us of absence. This applies also to case of bereavement, family illness, sudden emergencies, etc. In addtion, upon return to school the student must bring a written explanation for absence on the special school form provided at the office.
    • Requests for holidays or absence for engagements etc must be made 3 clear days in advance on the form available at the school office. Approval is not automatic. If we feel that the education of the student may suffer, we may not approve it. We hope that you will appreciate that this is entirely for the befenit of your child's education.
  • In order to encourage full school attendance, a 100% Attendance Award is given to all students who acgieve this. Attendance at all school events is mandatory in order to qualify for this award.

Dress Code and Uniform

  • Students are expected to wear the correct and complete school uniform to school each day, as well as the sports uniform during games. Uniform should be clean and presses, shoes should be polished. Shirts, blouses and T-shirts must be tucked in at all time. School Uniforms must be in good condition and not torn, stained or faede.
  • Students arriving in incorrect or incomplete uniform will be punished and parents will be required to send the appropriate uniform to school.
  • Students should not wear the school uniform when they attend tution etc.
  • Geeenwich International School students are expected to wear the following uniform every wednesdays at school, on outing, in the events of special days and study tours; school T-shirt and school shorts (boys) / skirt (girls).
  • Boys - Hair length may not exceed collar length, no dyeing o highlighting on hair, belts are not allowed.
  • Girls - may wear a simple (no hoops or dangles) round ear stuud and are only permitted to have one piercing per earlobe.
  • Positively No make-up or nail polish
  • Hair should be neat and tidy kept aay from ace, no dyeing or highlighting of hair.
  • School shoes black and white socks are required for both girls and boys.

Places declared out of boundary

  • Students should not be seen in cinema halls, supermarkets, restaurants, etc. in school uniform unless the are accompanied by parents, or adults with the knowledge of their parents.

Fees and Payments

Admission Fees

  • This fee is charged for all admissions. This fee is not refundableeven if the student does not enter school.

Payment of Term / Monthly Fees

  • All fees and charges must be padi stipulated due dates (before 7th day of each month). Failure of do so may result in the cancellation of enrolment.
  • The school reserves the right to change any fee or charges without prior notice.
  • the school reserves the right to refuse entry to students, whose fees are in arreas.
  • Parent or studentshould be signed their payment slipsby the cashier if the payment isdone by the bank.
  • 2% off on payment of first installment at a time.
  • 3% off on payment f all four installments at a time.
  • Without the Admission card child will not be allowed to enter the class at the commencement of each term. Students with arrears at the end of the academic year will not be able to return the following academic year.
  • Everyone shold collect his / her ID Tag, Tie, Book List & Syllabus before the beginning ofthe session.
  • No fees partialorfull, will be refunded if a student withdrawn or required to leave the school during a semester for any reason.
  • School rules are applicable to Play Group onwards.
  • The school policy is very clear that on no account student shou be absent for 30 days without any valid reason,may result in having the child's name deleted from the register and the admission will be cancelled.

Students travelling abroad

  • Parents / guuardians of student travelling abroad during the school days should inform in writing to the school and a letter of consent has to be taken from the school.

Outside School, Students should do :

  • Spend time completing home work and studying for tests outside school hours.
  • Do extra English reading each day.
  • GIS does not encourage students using social media / social media platform as it is a powerful distraction for young minds. Student who spend more time on social media / social media platform sites are likel to demonstrate poor academic performance as they don't play attention in the sbjects and they can loose important knowledge.

Homework, Class work, Test and Communication Books

  • Home work complaments classroom work, is set regularl and students are encouraged to complete it independently without the help of tutors.
  • Complete homework and assignments neatly, carefully and to behanded in on time.
  • Parents are reuestedto sign their child's daily diary and communication book in order to keep abreast of homework assessments.
  • Students should always carry the school communication book and parent should carefully go through the diar and sign every day.

Respect for School and Personal Property

  • Parents should label their child's special belongings with names and student number.
  • Students are required to use equipment and materials in school for their indented purpose only. They will be held accountable for proper care of school books, educational materials, school furniture, sports and laboratory equipment and their classrooms.
  • Parents of students who loose, damages, deface ordestroy school property will be fined for damages.
  • In addition, the student will be accorded appropriate punishment by the disciplining authority.
  • Students shouldnot bringvaluable iems to school including expensive pens, jewller, watches, electronic equipment (including mobile phones, CD's, walkmans / Discmans, cameras and magazines) and unreasonable amounts of cash. students are encouraged not to bring sums of money to school unless absolutely necessary, nor should they lend to or borrow from other students.
  • GIS will not bear responsibility for recovering any money that has been loande or valuable that may be stolen.

Enforcing School Rules and Regulations

  • Students iolating any of the school rules and regulationsare subject to disci;linary action.
  • Student Prefects, Teachers, Administrators, Depputy Principal and Principal are all responsible for encorcing the rules and regulations stipulated above and forallocating appropriate punishment.
  • In case of a serious breach of school rules or regulations, the school disciplinary committee will be called upon to take appropriate disciplinary measures, such as suspension or expulsion.
  • If a student is suspended thrice he or she is expected to be withdrawn from the schoolby the disciplinary committee.
  • The school reserves the right to suspend or expel any student for violating any of the school rules or regulations.

Guidelines and Instructions to Parents

  • Parents cannot enter the school or classroom at any time unless specifically invited. When visiting or when arriving for appointments should contact the office.
  • Parents or guardians are not allowed to meet their teachers during class hours. Prior permission of the Principal is reqired to mee the teacher if found necessary.
  • Any parent requires homework for an absent student must contact the appropriate teacher after school.
  • Parents are reuuested no to telephone teachers and other staff at home unless absolutely urgent, and certainly not after 7:00 pm innormal circumstances telephone the school office. A message willbe taken for the teacher to call you back.
  • Parents cannot send money to the class teachers to purchase Tiffin in the middleof the classes.
  • If any student's attendance is almost below 75%, the respective parent should pay penalty.
  • In case any parent / guardian of the school change their address, they are expected to notify the school immediately in writing and giving their new telephone numbers.
  • Parents should respect members in the staff, if not parents may recieve two warning letters from the school a final step the school permises will be prohibited to enter you and if parents wish to talk with teachers or administration regarding child's progress, fees or any other, should send a representetive.
  • Parents are strongly advised to attend all Parent Teacher meeting and other edcational progrms organized by the school.
  • Importent letters should be sent to school by post or handeddirectly to the school office.
  • Children who come to school without their full uniform may not be allowed to attend class.
  • The school will usually be closed during END OF TERM holidays. Therefore, parents who would like to contact the school may do so during working days only.
  • If parent have any concern about any particular matter if should be reproted and discussed with the teacher concern first. If the matter has not been resolved then the parents shold again try to resolve the issue with the teacher bu if a satisfiactory outcome to both parties cannot be reached then it should be reproted either in writing or by talking directly to the Principal or Director.
  • Parents / guardians who have any complains concerning their child must approach their child'steacher directly who will be very happy to assist. Parents / guardians NOT permitted to approach other children as this is against school policy and may be considered as an office and consequently have to be reorted to the Authority concerned.
  • Keep regular contacts with your child's teachers and update us about any difficulties you or your child is facing, that way, teachers will be better equipped to deal with each child's individual needs.
  • At least one member of the household should speak English to thestudent at home.

Extra Curricular Activities

  • We Place great importanceon this area of our students "life Education" because it is essential for giving them experience in relationshop with their peers, term dynamics, sharing, leadership skills, camaraderic etc.
  • Annual events are an integral part of the Greenwich International School, experienceand parents are urged to sppor the school authorities by participating in them. All major events are listed in the school calender. In addition, Greenwich International School has numerous functions / outings; there are sometimes one-off events.
